DAY 1- 2

EDINBURGH

Embrace the Charm of the Capital

Begin your adventure in the heart of Scotland, Edinburgh. Immerse yourself in the city's rich history and vibrant culture. Explore the iconic Edinburgh Castle, stroll along the Royal Mile, and soak in the atmosphere of the charming Old Town. Don't miss a visit to Arthur's Seat for stunning panoramic views of the city.

We started our journey by jumping on a train from London, Uk to Edinburgh. Highly recomment this train ride, because the scenery is stunning and its only a 4 hr ride.

DAY 2-3

INVERNESS

Unravel the Mysteries of Loch Ness

We drove north to Inverness, the gateway to the Scottish Highlands. Spend our days exploring ancient castles like :

  • Urquhart Castle, perched on the banks of the legendary Loch Ness,
  • Fort George an 18th century military life with garrison buildings, It's Massive!
  • Leakey's bookshop- this one surprised me! Its the largest second hand bookstore in Scotland with an actual log fire right in the center

Our favorites: Urquhart Castle, Leakey's Bookshop & walk around Loch Ness

If you are an Outlander fan, this area will feel like you’re in the series! Unfortunately I didn’t find Jamie Fraser here πŸ˜… non the less we embraced the magic of the Scottish countryside.

Day 5-8:

Isle of Skye

A Paradise for Nature Lovers

Next we drove to Isle of Skye, you need to take a ferry to get here. Ferry is massive + it can take your car! This ride was beautiful in itself. I enjoyed the trip + took full advantage of tea and Scottish butter cookies.

This was our favorite area in the whole of Scotland! And we finally got to see Highland Cows! they are adorballllee!

So we laced up your hiking boots and trekked through the rugged terrain, taking in breathtaking sights like the Kiltrock and Mealt falls, Neist point, Quiraing and the Old Man of Storr. Discovered charming towns like Portree and Dunvegan, each with its own unique charm and history.

Our favourite was Old man of storr hike, Portree, fairy pools and fairy Glenn! They were all so magical! 🧚🏽

If you are can brave up the cold glacier fed fairy pools, jump right in! It’s soo refreshing! 10/10 recommend!

Day 9-10

Isle of MULL

Discover the Highland Isles

Next, we set sail to the Isle of Mull, known for its stunning scenery and rich wildlife. We drove here, but had to take a car ferry, which again was an experience in itself!

Explore the picturesque harbor town of Tobermory, with its colorful buildings and maritime heritage. Visit the historic Iona Abbey, a place of tranquility and spirituality, set amidst the rugged beauty of the island. Iona has white sand beaches and turquoise waters! It was stunning!

Favourite place here was visiting the Fingals Cave! Can only be reached by a boat and weather permitting! We got super lucky with perfect weather conditions! Fingals cave has other-worldly like tall basalt walls. I loved how magical it felt and wrote a whole another blog about it. Read it here. πŸ’œ

Day 11-12

Glencoe + Fort William

Harry Potter Magic and Majestic Hikes

Journey to Glencoe, an awe-inspiring valley steeped in history and natural beauty. Channel your inner wizard with a ride on the Jacobite Steam Train, better known as the Hogwarts Express from the Harry Potter films. Hike in the magnificent Glen Nevis and soak in the stunning sights of the Ben Nevis mountain range.

We stayed in Glencoe to take the Jacobite train, which is in Fort William. It is only a 30 minute drive from Glencoe. Fort William is more touristy and we wanted to stay in a more quieter, more local town. Glencoe did not disappoint !

Favourite part was obviously the Jacobite train ride and the Hidden valley hike! It was sooo stunning! I felt out of place as if I’m on another planet lol! πŸ˜… highly recommend!

Read more about my Jacobite train experience here πŸš‚

Day 13-15:

Falkirk

Navigating the Scottish Lowlands

Conclude your adventure in Falkirk, where you can rent a narrow boat and gently cruise along the scenic canals. Explore the Falkirk Wheel, a marvel of engineering, and visit the iconic Kelpies sculptures, towering over the landscape. Take in the tranquility of the Lowlands before bidding farewell to Scotland.

Falkirk was not on our itinerary but, an old Scottish couple we met on the Harry Potter train told us we must try it! And it turned out to be one of our favourite parts of our trip! We also stopped at Rosalyn Chaple on our way to Endinburg

Read more about our 60ft narrow boat and our experience cruising the narrow canals here πŸ›Ά
